Sociology Department

Department of Sociology came into existence in the year 1971.There are two permanent teaching faculties in this Department. The mission of this Department is to impart value based education system depending upon the contemporary needs and trends through participation by social methods ensuring the quality of sociological education. The Department of Sociology trains students to grasp the social structures, understand the social processes, map the dynamics of social change and make sense of individual and collective experiences in their proper social context. Its focus is on the complete development of a confident individual who is socially sensitive and aware. It provides space for the students to engage in a range of academic, extracurricular, interactive and collaborative activates throughout the academic year. Over the years the department evolved a set of institutions and calendar of activities to anchor the learning process, forge a sense of discipline and make critical conversations possible across different years and various departments in the college.
